Thompson Class News May 8, 2015

Parents, we had a successful trip to the Planetarium.  This week we will be studying Cowboy life, on Friday we get to dress up in Cowboy attire.  I will be out Friday with my 8^th grader on a field trip.  Something tells me 8^th grade field trips are a lot more work than 2^nd grade ones.  We had a student lose her book fair money last week.  Please remind your student that they need to let me keep up with money so it does not go missing.  Remember if you’d like to come for Play Day to get your ID scanned this week.  They will not scan IDs the day of Play Day.  Thank you so much for all the teacher gifts last week.  They really made my day!

Howdy Parents!  This week we are focusing on a unit of Texas Fairy Tales.  Be sure to ask your student what fairy tale they heard and what it reminded them of.  Next week is Children’s Book Week.  Each day we will be doing something fun for book week.  Look for the sheet in their folders later this week.  Next week our Spring Book Fair will start.

Wow parents it’s been a few weeks since our last newsletter. This Friday will be picture makeups from the bad weather day in March.  No money is due at this time.  This week we are researching extreme weather,  if you have any books at home about this topic, please send them to school.  We raised the most money as a class for Jump Rope for Heart and earned the movie party in the gym last week.  Thanks for all your hard work.

Thompson Class News Feb. 17

We had a successful field trip.  One I will never forget, that’s for sure!  Thanks for all the Valentine love Friday, my kids and I sure enjoyed it.  I will be sending home a note about our next project tomorrow.  Our African American project will be due NEXT FRIDAY the 27^th.

Parents we have an exciting week in second grade.  Our class leaves for the fieldtrip on Friday morning.  We will pass out cards/treats on Friday afternoon when we return from the field trip.  Our living museum will be on Feb. 27.  Second graders are asked to report on African American inventors and dress as the inventor you chose on the 27^th.

Thompson Class News Feb. 2^nd 2015

Parents progress reports will come home this Friday.  Next Friday is our fieldtrip.  I am so excited to get to share the theatre with my students.  We are keeping an eye on the weather to see if we can swing lunch at the park or if we’ll need to come back to campus and have a picnic in the room.  This week is career week, we’ll be doing things starting tomorrow to celebrate.  Tuesday wear crazy hair or hats, Wednesday college shirts with jeans, Thursday dress as the profession you want, and Friday wear red and jeans for American Heart Association.

Parents we will be taking class pictures Wed. 28^th.  They will be on sale for $12 if you would like to purchase one. Class t-shirts should be here sometime this week or next.  P.E. shirts are on sale now for $10.  Are you broke yet? J Handling money is not my favorite part of this job.

Thompson Class News Jan. 5, 2015

Welcome back!  I admit I had to peel myself and my kids out of bed this morning, this cold weather makes it difficult to want to leave the house.  I am excited to say we are beginning our final semester as a second grade class.  These next nine weeks things might seem more difficult as we make the push to get them more independent and ready for third grade.  Report cards should show up Thursday. We will begin our mid year testing this week and will continue into next.
