Week of Jan. 22

Thompson Class News Week of Jan. 22
I hope your weekend was more relaxing than mine.  I had to leave Friday afternoon to take two of my kiddos to the Dr.  The oldest had strep and the youngest had an ear infection.  My daughter not sick, keeps asking for medicine, I guess she doesn’t want to feel left out!
Next week we will be having group pictures (31st).  When I get more info I will send it to you.  No tutoring this Wednesday.  If you have not paid for the field trip money is due by Feb. 1.

This week in our learning:
Reading : Plays
Math: 2 and 3 dimensional figures
Science: Insects
Social Studies: Important African Americans
Writing: Revising
Spelling r-controlled vowels

Have you been to math-play.com?  I tried it this weekend, there was lots of fun games to go along with 2-d/3-d figures.

Wishlist:  We’re running low on paper here, if you happen to have extra or find it on the cheap we could use copy paper. White or any color.

Thompson Class News Week of January 14, 2013

It’s another cold week for us in second grade.  Remember field trip forms and money are due by Feb 1.  We have had several background checks turned in for parents already.  We called and reserved more seats so that those parents who wish to attend will have seats once they pay.  Tutoring starts this week.  Math tutoring will continue on Tuesdays and we will also have one day of Reading tutoring on Wednesdays.

Parents don’t forget your student should be turning in Spelling homework each Friday.  Ask your student if they are turning theirs in.

Science- Insects
Social Studies- Wise Women
