Thompson Class News May 20th.

Parents tomorrow is Baseball day, students may wear ball caps and baseball shirts.  We are still collecting $2.00 for Just Dance.  So far we have 12 students going.  Thursday we are taking a short fieldtrip to the Planetarium.  We are leaving around 9:00 and will be gone for about an hour.  We will return around 10:15.  Since the fieldtrip is at West Mesquite High School, the district does not need permission slips for the trip.  However, if you DO NOT want your child to go please let me know by Wednesday.  I am sending home an “About the Author” page for parents to fill out to include in our All About books.  Parents please return the page by this Friday so that we can include it in your child’s book.

Happy children's Book Week!  We will be doing some fun things throughout the wee in the library.  Speaking of the library, we are still collecting JUST DANCE money.  Two dollars for a 45 minute dance party! What a deal!  Playday is the 24th, don't forget to get those IDs scanned.  Even if you've had it scanned in the past, you'll need to have it re-scanned for Playday.  The office WILL NOT scan IDs on the 24th.

This week in our learning
Reading: Poetry
Writing: All About Books
Math: Money review
Science: Matter
Social Studies: Conflict resolution

Questions?  Feel free to contact me at 972) 882-5101 x 3000, or Sthompson@mesquiteisd.org. I'm always here to help!

A Little Balancing.....

Ok so I can't figure out how to post videos on this blog, but found these Balance pics we took a few weeks back.

We learned that things balance as long as most of the weight rests below the balance point.

ID Clarification

I put out in our newsletter the fact that parents/grandparents/adults coming to PLAYDAY need to have their picture ID scanned prior to the 24th.  This is different from background check you filled out to go on the fieldtrip.  This is the ID scan they do when you come up for a class party, to eat with your student, etc...  You will need to scan it BEFORE the 24th, they won't do it the day of this year.  I want to make sure everyone knows, my worst fear is that someone doesn't get the message and then misses out on PlayDay.
